With the COVID-19 vaccination season approaching, it’s worth getting familiar with the claiming service requirements now, before your first batch of claims is due.
The service runs through three automated payment indicators and six manual payment indicators in the Calculating Quality Reporting Service (CQRS). Practices should review both the automated and manual indicators every month before declaring achievement, rather than assuming the automated side has it covered.
The manual indicators aren’t a general catch-all — they’re specifically for eligible third vaccinations, vaccinations administered within 90 days of a previous dose, or immediately necessary treatment (INT) activity. Using them outside these situations, or missing them when they should apply, is the kind of thing that shows up later as a claims discrepancy.
Worth doing now: read the full CQRS guidance before your practice’s first declaration of the season, agree who’s responsible for checking both automated and manual indicators each month, and build a quick sense-check into your process so a third vaccination or an INT case doesn’t get missed at the manual indicator stage.
