Cybersecurity continues to be a growing priority for primary care organisations. With increasing digital systems, patient data, and interconnected services, practices are becoming more attractive targets for cybercrime. Staying informed and taking proactive steps to protect systems and data is essential for maintaining patient trust and ensuring safe, uninterrupted care.
To support primary care teams, NHS England and the City of London Police Cyber Griffin team are delivering a series of cybersecurity webinars specifically designed for primary care.
These sessions aim to provide practical, real-world guidance to help organisations strengthen their cybersecurity posture and better understand the threats currently facing the sector.
What the webinars will cover
The webinars will include:
- Real-world intelligence on current cyber threats affecting healthcare organisations
- Simple and effective steps practices can take to improve their cyber resilience
- Guidance on how to identify and respond to suspicious activity before it escalates into a breach
- Support for understanding and addressing cybersecurity actions within the Data Security and Protection Toolkit (DSPT)
- An opportunity to ask questions and discuss common challenges faced by primary care organisations
These sessions are designed to be practical and accessible, helping practices translate cybersecurity guidance into real actions that can protect their systems, staff and patients.
Webinar dates
Two repeat sessions are available:
- Cyber Baseline – Part A
19 March | 2:00pm – 3:30pm - Cyber Baseline – Part B
14 April | 2:00pm – 3:30pm
Attending both sessions will provide a useful overview of the cybersecurity fundamentals every primary care organisation should have in place.
Why this matters for primary care
Cyber incidents in healthcare can lead to significant disruption — from system outages and appointment delays to potential data breaches. Strengthening cybersecurity awareness across the whole team helps reduce risk and ensures practices are better prepared to respond if an incident occurs.
Taking part in sessions like these is a simple way for practices to stay informed, strengthen their cyber defences, and support compliance with national data security requirements.
